Background

A Little About My Time At FinTrU

When I first joined FinTrU, it was at a very exciting time - there was an opportunity to ideate a new product aimed at solving a key industry problem. I was able to be a part of the project's creation, collaborating closely with other designers over several months to iron out early challenges. We were able to conceptualise a product that met all user needs and even design the process of their machine learning/AI features.

During this time I also highly contributed to user research efforts, conducting interviews some as a notetaker and others as a interviewer before preforming an analysis on the findings.

One of my big side projects early on within FinTrU was creating a design system. Initially, I worked alone on it, which pushed me to learn a lot independently. Before this, I had limited experience with design systems, but through this project, I gained deep knowledge in building effective and reusable systems. These systems helped represent the brand consistently and helped make the design and prototyping process so so much smoother, thanks to having some well-established starting blocks.

Working at FinTrU involved navigating both fast- and slow-paced environments. I participated in multiple sprint of the projects I was on, attending design reviews, refinement sessions, and retrospectives and having to explain every design decision to a variety of stakeholders.

Overall, my time at FinTrU taught me a great deal, especially about the FinTech sector. I had the opportunity to contribute to two amazing projects and was fortunate enough to help witness and shape the start of one of them.
